WHO ARE WE?
One Watts Critical Mass
The One Watts Critical Mass Program provides job training and placement to current and former gang involved residents in and around three Public Housing Facilities in Watts, which include Nickerson Gardens, Imperial Courts and Jordan Downs/One Ways.
Staff will also provide violence reduction through outreach, mediation, and mitigating potential conflicts in and around Watts. We will conduct resident outreach and support for reopening the community following the COVID shutdown.
Critical Mass Ambassadors
Our Community Ambassadors will conduct violence intervention across Watts, and particularly the three HACLA developments in Watts, in collaboration with other City-sponsored intervention programs.
Ambassadors will distribute program flyers and COVID-related information door-to-door and at community events, de-escalate potential conflicts, staff safe passage initiatives, and promote dialogue between members of community members and LAPD representatives.
